ABOUT
LISA GAFFNEY helps her social sector clients gain the operating agility, financial acumen and resources to build stronger programs and businesses. Lisa specializes in organizational strategy and business planning, financial management, and evaluation of funding and resource needs. Clients benefit from integrating strategic, financial, market and operational considerations into their decision-making and planning. Lisa also works with organizations to become investment ready, first identifying the type and level of financial resources they need and then helping them develop a compelling case to attract those resources.
Lisa brings extensive experience in finance and strategy in a wide range of business environments. Following a 20+ year career in finance, she transitioned her focus to the nonprofit sphere out of a desire to use her expertise to strengthen organizations in the sector. In addition to MarketMatters, Lisa is an affiliate consultant with the Support Center for Nonprofit Management. She has worked for Wellspring Consulting (strategy consultant), FINCA International (development executive) and the Taproot Foundation (program manager, strategist). Lisa has also participated in consulting engagements with public and private sector entities including the Securities and Exchange Commission and Fortune 500 corporations.
During her finance career, Lisa was a securities analyst, on the sell-side and in institutional asset management, and a banker with firms including Credit Suisse, Lehman Brothers, and JPMorgan Chase. As an analyst, she focused on the food, retail and consumer products sectors of the high-yield and investment grade corporate bond markets. Lisa was ranked for multiple years in the Institutional Investor annual poll of top sell-side analysts.
Lisa is the Vice President of the Board of ArtStream and has served as Treasurer of the boards of Lutheran Social Services NCA and Quality Services for the Autism Community.
Lisa received her MBA with a concentration in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and her BA in economics from Duke University, where she was an AB Duke Scholar.
